COVID-19 UPDATE  |  MAY 4, 2020

Hello Arndt’s Campground friends, old and new. If you’ve found this you are likely one of our valued guests or one we are hoping to add to our camping family soon. We want to say thank you for spending some of your time enjoying our campground, cabins and other facilities. This is our 26th season and we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this unique piece of northern Maine with all of you.

2020 is off to an interesting start. Please read the following as it will help you understand changes that we are putting in place to keep our guests and our staff safe, healthy and happy. The health and safety of everyone is at the forefront of our efforts this season. The spreading of the current coronavirus has helped us to focus in on what we can do to keep everybody safe. These new policies are a combination of government regulation, our own beliefs and understanding and, most importantly, information rooted in currently available science-based best practices. All of us are trying to find our way through this pandemic and there is no playbook. We are doing what we believe is in the best interest of the health and wellbeing of our guests and our staff.

It is important to realize that information keeps changing every day and we will continue to work on clarification of the directives, but at the moment this is what we understand:

The state of Maine requires that campgrounds stay closed to all but essential workers and healthcare providers till June 1, 2020.

On June 1, campers who live in Maine may arrive. For those who live in any other state, they may only camp if they can “self-quarantine” in their camper for 14 days. They need to bring everything that’s needed for those 14 days. No exceptions. You can have someone drop off supplies at your door. No visitors are permitted during that time. Campers need to stay in their camper.

There is still confusion around what can happen on July 1. It sounds like if you are an out-of-state visitor, you will still need to comply with the 14-day quarantine. This will depend on how the state handles the virus. If the transmission rate goes up, camping will be curtailed.

We take the safety and wellbeing of our campers very seriously so we plan on limiting contact as much as possible. Since there are no right answers yet, we are starting out this way. Here at Arndt’s Campground, the tenting area, bathhouse, pool, playground, bunkhouse, store and game room will be closed and likely will remain closed for the season. Registration and check in will be done by phone. Visitors will be restricted.

Because we want to follow all safety protocols, there is no way that we can keep the bathhouse constantly sanitized to protect people against the virus. Everyone will have to use the bathroom in their camper. There will be no publicly accessible bathroom facilities available.  If you aren’t totally self-contained you will not be able to stay.

Arndt’s Campground will be abiding by the Maine CDC guidelines and ask that all guests and visitors do the same. [link to Maine CDC guidelines: https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/infectious-disease/epi/airborne/coronavirus.shtml]

In the meantime you can enjoy our open space, a gorgeous sunset, the fresh air, a campfire, beautiful views and walking trails.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. As stated earlier this “new normal” is strange for us too. We are learning as we go.

Feel free to call us with any questions and we will do our best to answer them.

We all need to be flexible and adjust our behaviors as needed.

If you have a reservation and are from a state other than Maine, please contact us at 207-764-8677 ASAP.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Be kind.
